Hello my lovelies,
It’s curtains for Summer here in the UK, literally from the 1st of September there was a noticeable change in the temperature. I have been very fortunate to have been able to get out of the country for some sunshine. I am a big fan of Autumn, however, I do appreciate a distinction in seasons. So its saddening that I feel like I haven’t had much of a Summer vibe this year – fingers crossed it’s different in 2025.
My reading pace has improved slightly, the average is two weeks for one book. However, I have found when I really am absorbed by a book – I can read it within 2 days (socialising pending).
Sadly, I now have to completely broken my book ban… This season I ordered more books without selling any, and used up my leftover money from previous sales. Oh the book addict in me is satisfied, but the practical goal setter in me is annoyed!
But enough about that, let’s dive into my wrap for Summer 2024.
Finished

Bluffer’s Guide to Etiquette – A sweet gift from a friend for my birthday, a tongue and cheek satire around etiquette. A fun read and a book to tick off my list!
Shadowblade – I am kind of kicking of myself for taking 2/3 years to read this book…set in a medieval desert backdrop, you follow a girls whose origins are going to cause political upheval.
Throne of the Fallen – I dip in and out of Kerri Maniscalco, especially after the Kingdom of the Wicked Series. But I was refreshed by her writing style with this book, will I get the next one in the series? Probably. But will I pre order it? No.
Bonded by Thorns – My first book in my recently renewed Fairyloot subscription. I had decided to get the Romantasy subscription and it didn’t disappoint in the spice level – though the reverse haram thing, I am pretty sure is not my general cup of tea.
The Bone Season – A book I have been avoiding due to the hype, and after to reading it…I get the hype! Devoured this I think in a few days and ordered the next book in the series.
Godkiller – I just finished this on the last day! A medieval fantasy filled with vengeful gods, knights and godkillers. Definitely going to be picking up the next book in the series.
DNF

I have started being decisive on DNFing books, I mean my personal motto is “life is too short to read bad books”. Yet, I am still hesitant to DNF books and leave them to grow dust on my shelves – which is unacceptable really.
I am now making it a goal to be more assertive with my decision making – I will also keep a list of my DNFs, so maybe in the future I might reattempt them if I am in a better mindset.
Overall, I read three books from my Summer TBR and DNFed three books.
66% for this summer season, an increase since Spring! While I know it was down to the wire with getting the last book read – I am pretty chuffed with myself, and also very happy with my book choices.
That’s it! What do you think? How did you go in the end – manage to read more than expected??
Till next time.
