Journal Update: 13/01/2025

Hello my lovelies,

Welcome to the 2nd full week of January? How are we fearing?

These days for me I blink and we are already weeks, if not months, ahead!

During each month, I aim to check in here when it comes to my reading and TBR goals. While I would be pleased with myself if I did a weekly update, I know that my lifestyle may not give me space to be able to do that.

Currently Reading:

I started reading both The Coven and Rich Dad, Poor Dad at the start of the month. As part of my #Bookvariety25, I am trying to incorporate different formats when I am reading. So The Coven I am reading in it’s original hardback form and Rich Dad, Poor Dad I am listening to as an audiobook.

Here are my current thoughts about both books:

The Coven – The writing is not spectacular, and that’s OK! Do I need a descriptive world and intense dialogue for this genre – no. This impression has only shown me as a reader and reviewer that I am becoming discerning and reflective about what I read. Currently I am intrigued by the world itself and the mission the protagonist is going to take. It does give me old paranormal romance vibes – which I am totally here for.

Rich Dad, Poor Dad – Straight off the bat, this is a heavy read. Not because of its wording or content, but because this author is repetitive when it comes to talking about the lessons they are learning from each parent. As it is a non-fiction self help book, there are sections where you can take notes and a summary at every chapter – making it feel like a textbook from university.

I listen to Rich Dad, Poor Dad while I am driving decent distances. So I am not sure if I will finish it completely in January, but by the end of February I feel it is possible.

I hope to finish The Coven by the end of this week and start up with another book from my January TBR.

Outstanding TBR

Out of the four books I have selected, the following below are still what I have left to read:

My advantage is that I am already half way through The House in the Cerulean Sea from when I started way back. Hopefully that means when I pick it up, it will take me less time to read as if I was to read The Principle of Moments. To be honest, I will probably leave to last as its science fiction and doesn’t really hold my interest as much as the other books.

What are you reading right now? How do you find this new format? I wanted to show you the stages I am at with my TBR.

Thoughts?

Till next time.
