Hello my lovelies,
Here we are – my first monthly wrap up of 2025!
My thoughts in January have been mixed.
The first couple of weeks, I got into a strong rhythm when it came to reading my book box subscription. However, once I got into the other books in my TBR – I found that rhythm to stagger.
Firstly, audiobooks are not going so well for me. Well, that’s a slight lie. I can’t seem to engage with fiction books on audio. Non-fiction for some odd reason holds my attention more, the example being Rich Dad, Poor Dad. But as I have stated I wanted to try mixed formats, I will keep trying and maybe find a book that might stick.
Lastly, my work and social life do impact my reading. Therefore I am being kind to myself when I have a busy week and don’t pick up a book that week (like the second to last week of January).
So that is where I am currently – but let’s dive into the wrap-up!
Here is a reminder of the books I picked for January:

Rollover Book: The Principle of Moments by Esmie Jikiemi-Pearson
Subscription Book: The Coven by Harper L Woods
Exploding Book: The House in the Cerulean Sea
Interest Read: Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki
Out of the four books, I finished The Coven and started reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad. The Principle of Moments I DNFed at 40 pages, I found the writing style jarring.
The other book I finished in the month of January was A Fire in the Sky, as well, I picked up The Count of Monte Cristo to be a long term read in the background (because why not?).
Therefore I read a total of 2 books in the month of January.
Not a strong start as I would have thought, however, it’s progress and I am taking it. It’s been refreshing to be able to DNF books and be comfortable about. I know there are a lot of books on my shelves that will be instant DNFs and this needs to be done ASAP so I can get the books on there that are actually worth it!
How did you get on in January? I would love to hear in the comments below.
Till next time.
