“I defy the stars.” In a world where no entities exist but the Stars, cruel and merciless gods that watch over the world, Elara has been cursed by fate. A prophecy that promises she will fall for a Star, and it will kill them both. But when one descends to wreak havoc on Elara’s Kingdom, she is forced to flee into the arms of her enemy in the neighbouring country. As she learns more about her own magic, and the depth of the Stars’ deceit, she also finds herself learning more about the country she is forced to take refuge in, and the enemy prince forced to train her into a weapon. Something dark brews within her, a power made of night and shadows that begs to be broken free.

Review

* Non-Spoiler Review*

I got this book through my romantasy Fairyloot book subscription.

It’s been a hot minute since I have been able to finish a book! I mean I have many books on the go, but there hasn’t been one that I have been able to finish in it’s entirety.

Another romantasy book, another satisfied customer. I enjoyed the world that Erriu created, a simple concept of gods and kingdoms reworked to have powers of the stars.

The main heroine is likeable, flawed and has a good emotional range along with decent aptitude. Which is refreshing as a majority of the time I do get irritated with how some MCs are too dramatic or can’t seem to have some basic common sense. I know it’s a fictitious novel, but common!

Overall storyline was decent paced, the romance was a slow burn and suspenseful. Though it did start to get on my wick that it was taking them so long, but hey ho, I guess I am impatient.

Enjoy story, I definitely will look into reading the sequel.
