Hello my lovelies,
It’s now over halfway through the year, and I was hoping to be on track with my reading – but surprise, I am still behind!
Here in the UK the weather has been glorious and at times a little hot 🥵. What started out as good progress at the beginning of the month slowly deteriorated into almost no progress at all.
While this is frustrating, I am determined. Throughout this year, I have improved my overall reading, choosing different genres that are not from my normal baseline and trying new formats of reading, e.g., audiobooks.
I hope that my attitude can also help you if you are struggling also 🙏🏻
So that is where I am currently – but let’s dive into the wrap-up!
Here is a reminder of the books I picked for June:

Rollover Book: Enchantress by James Maxwell
Subscription Book: The Red Scholar’s Wake by Aliette de Bodard
Exploding Book: The Breakup Monologues by Rosie Wilby
Interest Read: Quicksilver Trilogy by Josie Jaffrey
I have not finished any of the four books. At the beginning of the month, I was reading Enchantress and was making good headway—until I DNFed it. I used almost half the month to read this book, but I just couldn’t finish it. While the world-building was interesting, I found the storyline slow and sluggish, and I couldn’t really engage with the main characters.
Following that disappointment, I picked up the remaining TBR books to salvage my monthly reading goal. I have made a good start to The Red Scholar’s Wake and hope to finish this book in July. The Quicksilver trilogy is ongoing, and fingers crossed, I can wrap up The Breakup Monologues as well.
Therefore I read a total of 0 books in the month of June.
I am four books behind in my yearly reading goal, which annoys me a lot. However, this seems manageable. All I need is one good month of reading, and I will be back on track!
How did you get on in June? I would love to hear in the comments below.
Till next time.
