October 2025 TBR

Hello my lovelies,

I absolutely love this time of year, the gentle shift into cooler evenings paired with mild daytime warmth, and the golden cascade of leaves turning shades of amber and rust. It’s the kind of atmosphere that practically invites you to slow down and savour the moment.

The cosy vibes have definitely arrived, and with them, my usual urge to hibernate with a good book. I always say I’ll stay tucked indoors more often… and then somehow the month spirals into chaos. Hopefully not this time!

As for my reading goal, I’m feeling optimistic. I’ve made solid progress so far, and if I can keep up this momentum, I might even surpass my target of 25 books before the year wraps up. A stretch? Maybe. But I’m holding onto hope.

So let’s get into it.

Here is a reminder on how I am picking my monthly TBR books:

Historically, I have been using prompt cards to help me pick. Yet, this year, I am doing something different.

The first thing, will be to rollover one book that I haven’t read from the previous month. One thing I noticed last year, was that whatever I didn’t read in that month would get lost on the wayside. So this time, I want to rollover a book to help me hold myself account.

Second thing, I will read a book from my Fairyloot Romantacy subscription. I want to be active in staying on top of this, as I believe I will not always want to keep the books after I read them.

Lastly, I will make an conscious effort to pick one book that I really want to read from my shelf, and one from my exploding pile (where I give myself this year to read it or they will be sold or given to charity).

So let’s get into the books I have picked this month:

Rollover Book: The Kamogawa Food Detectives by Hisashi Kashiwai

Subscription Book: The Jasad Heir by Sara Hashem

Exploding Book: The City of Dusk by Tara Sim

Interest Read: Girls just want to have funds by Camilla Falkenberg, Emma Due Bitz, Anna-Sophie Hartvigsen

This month, I set out with the intention of leaning into autumnal vibes—and I think I’ve managed to capture that spirit. I’m already halfway through The Kamogawa Food Detectives and The Jasad Heir, so my goal for the first half of October is to wrap them up.

As for The City of Dusk, it’s proving to be a bit of a challenge. I dipped into the first chapter and found it surprisingly heavy-going, which has made me hesitant to dive back in. On a different note, Girls Just Want to Have Funds is a title I picked up when I first began exploring the world of investing. With the cooler weather settling in, it feels like the perfect season to focus on a little self-improvement… don’t you think?

So what do you think? Have you read any of these books from this TBR? I would love to hear your thoughts below!

Till next time.
