Hello my lovelies,
I’ll admit—it’s been a while since I last shared a journal update here. While my yearly reading goal is still very much on track (thankfully!), I’ve fallen behind on posting reviews and general reflections.
As the colder months settle in, I’m hoping to carve out more time to write and reconnect with this space. Ideally, I’ll be adding a few overdue reviews and sprinkling in some broader updates too. Let’s see how the season unfolds…
So here is my current update.
Currently Reading:

Here are my current thoughts about these books:
I’ve just started Girls Just Wanna Have Funds and am continuing with The Kamogawa Food Detectives. Both are slower-paced reads, but in very different ways. GJWHF feels more like a reference guide—best taken in one chapter at a time so the insights have space to settle. In contrast, The Kamogawa Food Detectives is a classic slow-burn novel, rich with description and atmosphere on every page.
I’d love to say I’ll finish both books by the end of the month—but truthfully, I’m not entirely sure I will. That’s not for lack of effort; I’ll absolutely be giving it my best shot. It’s just that slow-paced reads have always been a bit of a personal challenge. Still, I’m leaning into the rhythm and hoping for the best…wish me luck!
Finished

The Jasad Heir – This one had been sitting on my shelf for years, quietly waiting its turn. And honestly? I think the design just never quite spoke to me, so I kept passing it over. But when I finally gave it a chance, I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed the story. It came so close to being a five-star read—something I absolutely didn’t expect.
I’ll be putting together a review soon, and I’d really love to hear your thoughts if you’ve read it too. There’s something special about rediscovering a book that’s been hiding in plain sight.
So there you have it, a decent update on where I am right now. How are you getting on this month with your reading? Let me know in the comments below.
Till next time.
