Hello, my lovelies.
As I sit down to write this, the sun is finally shining. Spring is slowly making its way to the UK, and I couldn’t be happier about it. Winter wasn’t particularly harsh this year, but the endless grey skies and rainy days certainly overstayed their welcome. I’m more than ready for brighter mornings, warmer afternoons, and more chances to read outside in the garden.
Reading has been a bit of a struggle lately, mostly because of everything going on in my life right now (being made redundant and navigating the job hunt isn’t exactly relaxing). Still, I’m sticking with my goal of reading five books this month. Who knows, maybe I’ll surprise myself and get through more than expected once I can settle my mind a bit.
For now, I’m channelling the classic British mantra: keep calm and carry on. Come June, I’ll reassess my yearly reading goal and see if my monthly pace has picked up. I want to stay realistic, after all.
So, with that said… let’s get into it!
Here is a reminder on how I am picking my monthly TBR books:
These are the parameters I set for myself for the month:
The first thing will be to rollover one book that I haven’t read from the previous month.
Second thing, I will read a book from my Fairyloot Romantacy subscription and/or a book that I got from a historical book box subscription.
Third thing, I will make a conscious effort to pick one book from my shelf that I really want to read, and one from my self-destruct pile (where I give myself this year to read it, or they will be sold or given to charity).
So let’s get into the books I have picked this month:

Rollover Book: Warrior Princess Assassin by Brigid Kemmerer
Subscription Book: Song of Silver Flame Like Night by Amelie Wen Zhao
Exploding Book: A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid
Interesting Reads: The Iliad by Homer & The Courage to be Disliked by Fumitake Koga & Ichiro Kishimi
It’s a real mix this month. The good news is that I’m already halfway through The Courage to Be Disliked, and I’ve made it to about 30% of The Iliad. Now it’s just a matter of finishing both before the end of April.
The other three books on my list fall somewhere between romantasy, fantasy, and maybe even paranormal. I’m not entirely convinced that two of them will be quick, easy reads, though. Part of me wonders whether I should slip in something lighter to help ease myself back into a consistent reading rhythm.
So, let’s see how this all plays out…
What do you think? Have you read any of these books from this TBR? I would love to hear your thoughts below!
Till next time.
Serefina
