Fitting into the Old World isn’t going very well for Boulder boundary witch Allison “Lex” Luther: she may have earned a place in a vampire’s service, but now it seems as if every supernatural creature in town has found a reason to hate her. And when Lex and her partner are assigned to investigate the suspicious disappearance of two vampires during the night of the full moon, they find themselves with more questions than answers.

Was it murder…or mutiny?

The crusade for answers will lead Lex all over the Colorado Old World, from a prison cell for a broken werewolf to a haunted Denver brothel. And when Lex determines the responsible party, the hunt is just beginning: something has been awakened in Boulder, something as old and powerful as it is terrifying. Only the woman with death in her blood can stop what’s coming.

Review

* Non-Spoiler Review*

The second book in the Boundary Crossed series, and I have to say I was a little underwhelmed with the follow up. While my favourite characters were in the next instalment, the focus was on the main mystery – which I am fine with but it was the execution was not.

As this is a non-spoiler review I won’t go into too much detail, the main issue is around what or who is causing the Old World uprising. Throughout the book you get a little background info on some of the old world being and how they used to interact – interesting right?

Well, it was until plot holes started appearing. I can oversee some plot holes but when it’s blatantly obvious that becomes a pet peeve of mine. These plot holes made this book feel rushed at the end…as I have the next two books in the series I will give the next one another go and hopefully there will be some refinement.

Overall, it was an OK read and I appreciate that it followed smoothly from the previous book.
