Hello my lovelies,
In record time, I have managed to get through two books in only 8 days! Were they tomes? No. But for me this is a great way to get back in the proverbial saddle for my reading.
Over the last week, I have been pondering a few ways in which I can stay this level of engaged with my reading. Currently, I am aware that the books I am gravitating towards are easy reads for myself – and that’s ok!
So now it’s the case of incorporating different genres that will not impact my rhythm, because I want to keep up this pace.
Finished:

Fire in the Sky and The Coven are both from my Fairyloot Romantasy subscription box. I have now managed to get the outstanding books I have received from them down to two.
Out of the two, I was very disappointed in The Coven. The premise had potential, however, I felt that it was executed lazily. It did dampen my mood for a little bit as being my first book to read of the year! Luckily, Fire in the Sky came in and boosted my mood significantly. While it is not a literary masterpiece, the story was enjoyable and the character development was well balanced.
Currently Reading:

With finishing two Fairyloot books, the next ones I picked up were slightly off script. While The Principle of Moments is part of my January TBR, The Count of Monte Cristo was not.
Here are my current thoughts about these books:
Rich Dad, Poor Dad – No change since last week. I haven’t read a single page since I last reported in. I am through the first chapter and poised to start the next. The one thing I am finding difficult is that the audio is not engaging me, so I am considering switching to my paperback to get through this one.
The Principle of Moments – First impression, the sci fi element is vast. Though I am only 40 pages in, it is content heavy with the world building, so much so, I am feeling a little lost in the story. Let’s hope that changes.
The Count of Monte Cristo – Damn this book is a 1243 pages! Extremely intimidating for any reader. As I started reading, I was pleasantly surprised with the writing style and dialouge. It has this flow to it that keeps me engaged rather than overwhelmed like other period books.
Outstanding TBR
Out of the four books I have selected for this month to read, the following below are still what I have left to read:

While I am chuffed that there is only one outstanding book left, realistically it will not be read. With the three books I am reading, I hope to finish at least one of them – and to be honest it’s going to most likely be The Principle of Moments.
Whew, that was a lot. I still can’t believe I have picked up a tome like The Count of Monte Cristo! But hey ho, it is what it is and I have a sneaking suspicion I will probably enjoy it.
Thoughts?
Till next time.
