Hello my lovelies,
What a crap reading year 2023 has been for me! Not only am I at 7 books read this year, I haven’t even managed to follow my low buy year goal either…
While it might be a complete and utter failure for me this year, I am taking this as a lesson. Not all goals are going to be achieved, they most likely will morph into something new and unexpected – I mean how many of us can relate? We start at the beginning of the year claiming that we want to achieve X, but then by the end of the year we end up changing that goal to Y.
For the last 6 years, I have been a big book reader. When I look at my good reads I would read a minimum of 30 books each year over that time period – I was obsessed! Though at the end of 2022 my life was turned upside down (by choice I might add) and somewhere along the line my passion for reading subsided.
However, almost a year on, I can feel the inkling of my passion for reading being ignited.
So I am going to try again…try and set myself some reading goals for each season – starting with this Autumn! I follow the lunar cycle for the seasons, therefore from 22nd of September my Autumn goal will start!
Now after that long monlogue, lets get into my reading goals for this Autumn.
Currently Reading
Before I get into the theme I want to share the three books I plan to include in this book log that will not fall under the theme. All three books are non fiction – Kitchen Witchery for Everyday Magic, Dear Dolly and The Breakup Monologues. These three books I find are good being read in sections and nice to breakup any big novels I might need a break from.

To Read
This season, I have decided to go with fantasy & mystery as my two main themes. Anatomy is a Gothic tale with a level of mystery set in the dark back drop of 1817 Edinburgh. Boundary Lines is the second book in the Boundary Crossed urban fantasy series, and since I finished the first book this year I want to keep the momentum going! Defy the Night and Book of the Night are both mystery books one set in a fantasy scope and the other urban – but both meet the main themes.

What do you think of the books I picked? Have you read any of them?
7 books over three months I feel is achievable for myself, especially since my non fiction books are not so long. I am hoping these books will kick me back into a good level of reading aka get me out of this slump!
Till next time.
