A deadly prison. A forbidden romance. A fight for survival.

THERE’S ONLY ONE RULE IN ENDLOCK: OBEY OR DIE.

In Dividium, all crimes are punishable by life in prison. A prison that’s a life sentence in more ways than one. Where the wealthy can hunt the inmates for sport.

Raven’s mission is simple: infiltrate the infamous and deadly Endlock Prison to save her brother.

There’s just one problem: Raven has a target on her back. Her reputation as the most ruthless bounty hunter in Dividium precedes her, and the inmates she’s sent to Endlock want their revenge.

So when the prison guard she’s sworn to hate becomes her only chance to survive, Raven has no choice but to trust the one person she shouldn’t…

Review

* Non-Spoiler Review*

I am finally on a roll with reading through my subscription books – this book is from my November TBR FairyLoot.

Initial impression, the way the story is written is reminiscent of stories I read back 10 years ago. What I mean is that the storyline had a predictable setup – which many authors followed back in the day – and to be honest, I am not mad about it!

Our main character, Raven, is a hard-nosed bounty hunter whose main objective in life is to protect and provide for her brother, Jed. The world they live in is divided into three sectors: the Low, Middle and Upper Class. These were based on your profession and, of course, your social standing.

I enjoyed a dystopian setting. The author didn’t expand as much on the world, but I was satisfied with the amount that was provided – it gave me enough to imagine.

The premise of a prison break was engaging, I could feel the suspense throughout the novel. While there was a lot more room to expand on how dire the place was, I was still itchy to know how the MC was going to achieve the escape.

I enjoyed the supporting characters and the love interest, too. There was enough backstory to help me build a liking or disliking of the characters. The romance was slow burn, and I definitely had been antsy for something to happen. This slow burn was one of the contributing factors to why I felt the writing was a little dated, but not to its detriment.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. A prison break, dystopian romance. I am not sure if this should be under romantacy as there wasn’t any fantastical things about it. But I am not too bothered.
