August 2026 TBR

Hello, my lovelies!

This month, I have woken up with an absolute vengeance. Maybe it’s because I finally took a week off work to properly unwind (using up some holiday leave that was about to expire) and just settled in for some serious, uninterrupted reading time. While the month before was a step up from the previous one, I noticed my focus only really kicked in right at the eleventh hour when I realised my reading deadline was looming.

For this month’s TBR, I’ve purposely selected more books to keep myself fully engaged and excited about what’s in my hands. It’s become pretty clear that my mood-reading is completely rampant; whenever a book starts dragging its feet, instead of sensibly picking up something else and coming back to it later, I try to be stoic and power through. And what does that stubbornness actually get me? Exactly zero reading done because I end up avoiding it altogether.

So, this time around, I am dropping the stoicism. I’m making sure I have plenty of brilliant options lined up to keep my mind hooked, so even if there’s a slight reading slump, I’ve got the right support system to help me breeze straight through.

So, with that said… let’s get into it!

Here is a reminder on how I am picking my monthly TBR books:

These are the parameters I set for myself for the month:

The first thing will be to rollover one book that I haven’t read from the previous month.

Second thing, I will read a book from my Fairyloot Romantacy subscription and/or a book that I got from a historical book box subscription.

Third thing, I will make a conscious effort to pick one book from my shelf that I really want to read, and one from my self-destruct pile (where I give myself this year to read it, or they will be sold or given to charity).

So let’s get into the books I have picked this month:

Rollover Book: The Art of War by Sun-Tzu

Subscription Book: Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider, Verity Guild by Mai Corland, & Savage Blossom by S.T Gibson

Exploding Book: Lies We Sing to the Sea by Sarah Underwood

Interesting Reads: Start with Yourself by Emma Grede & Stone Blind by Natalie Haynes

A heavy subscription book box month (again) – but this is also based on the fact that my slow reading has caused a backlog of books that need to be read.

What do you think? Have you read any of these books from this TBR? I would love to hear your thoughts below!

Till next time.
