Set in New Orleans this PR definitely sucked me in, I mean who doesn’t love sexy immortals?! The second book in the Dark Hunter series, Sherrilyn Kenyon knows how to do a follow-up.
He is solitude. He is darkness. He is the ruler of the night. Yet Kyrian of Thrace has just woken up handcuffed to his worst nightmare: An accountant. Worse, she’s being hunted by one of the most lethal vampires out there. And if Amanda Devereaux goes down, then he does too. But it’s not just their lives that are hanging in the balance. Kyrian and Amanda are all that stands between humanity and oblivion. Let’s hope they win.
I do love a good PR book that you can power through in a few days, and this is precisely what I did with Night Pleasures. I am super happy that I add this to my Fantastic February Challenge!!
Kyrian is a Dark Hunter who is drowning in his past, to cope he keeps everyone at a distance. That distance is threatened after he wakes up chained to Amanda, a witch who chose to disown her heritage in search of a “normal” life.
The book grabbed me straight away. Kyrian’s inability to be serious half the time was fun and refreshing. I loved how Kenyon kept a steady banter between the main characters, plus she didn’t make the heroine a ditz. (Which, to be honest, gets on my nerves when authors do that).
I love Amanda’s calm under pressure attitude; it made me like her quite quickly. The pull between the characters was subtle, but not to the point where you couldn’t see how they might fall for each other.
The villain was superb, to avoid spoilers I won’t dive into any plot lines. All I can say is that the action was described beautiful and you couldn’t help but hate the protagonist.
Overall great read, I would recommend it to anyone who likes Christine Feehan, Nalini Singh or Larissa Ione.
