Book Log: Autumn 2023 Wrap Up

Hello my lovelies,

It’s time to say so long to Autumn. What an eventful three months it has been for me! For the first time this year, I managed to read a decent amount from my TBR and read other books from my collection!

It stills baffles me that this reading slump has taken me a year to get out of. But that is the nature of the beast isn’t it? I am excited to see how my next TBR fares going into 2024!

Now I digress, let’s dive into my wrap for Autumn 2023.

Finished

Anatomy a Gothic ya romance/mystery. I did enjoy the dark historical setting and the main plot line, while it didn’t blow me away in regards to the story line… it was an interesting read with well rounded MCs and a refreshing setting.

When Beauty Tamed the Beast is a regency romance adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. I consumed this book with in two days, so it’s safe to say that this one was a good-in!

Boundary Lines an Urban Fantasy and the second book in the Boundary Crossed series. A decent follow up in the series but not as engaging as the first one.

Winta’s Day an Urban Fantasy and the third book in the Seeker Series, the second book I had read a few years ago – but, the book was easy to pick up on and I devoured it within a week.

Evergreen, a personal memoir/journal of seasons by content creator Lydia Millen. This book was wholesome and also at the same time vague with room for improvement.

A Witch’s Guide to Fake Dating a Demon – a sweet fantasy romance about a witch who accidentally summons a bargain demon, and now has to figure out how to send him back.

Overall, I was really happy with completing the amount of books I did this season. A good mixture of genres and I ticked off two from my Autumn TBR. It felt so good to find pleasure again in getting caught up in a story or learning something new.

DNF

I have decided to DNF Book of Night, because I frankly have no interest in reading this book. I don’t know what it is, but there was something about the story or the character that didn’t grip me. Annoyingly I also have two special edition copies due to Illumicrate and Fairyloot releasing the same book one month…so now I have to figure out how to sell two!

Currently Reading

These books have been haunting me for all of Autumn, but for the life of me I have no interest in trying to read them all in one go. As I mentioned in a previous book log, Dear Dolly is in letter format and it seems to drain me if I read more than two letters/responses. I am at the halfway point with Kitchen Witchery, similar issue as my previous book – the content seems to drain me if I read too much in one go.

Do you find that? While a book might be interesting, you cannot consume it in length as you find it wipes you out?

That’s it! What do you think? How did you go in the end – manage to read more than expected??

Till next time.
