January 2025 TBR

Hello my lovelies,

I can’t believe it’s already the start of 2025 and I am on my monthly TBR journey. If you haven’t been following me, I used to do a seasonal TBR to not push unnecessary pressure on myself.

I did this because two years ago my reading took a nose drive due to my personal situation. I lost the urge to read – it was a struggle for a hot minute. But now it’s on the rise, I may not get back to my level of 60 books a year…and that’s ok, as long as I am reading for pleasure.

Now after that waffle. How do I plan to do this month’s TBR?

Historically, I have been using prompt cards to help me pick. Yet, this time, I am going to do something different.

The first thing, will be to rollover one book that I haven’t read from the previous month. One thing I noticed last year, was that whatever I didn’t read in that month would get lost on the wayside. So this time, I want to rollover a book to help me hold myself account.

Second thing, I will read a book from my Fairyloot Romantacy subscription. I want to be active in staying on top of this, as I believe I will not always want to keep the books after I read them.

Lastly, I will make an conscious effort to pick one book that I really want to read from my shelf, and one from my exploding pile (where I give myself this year to read it or they will be sold or given to charity).

Overall, I think this method will help me get rid of books that are not my cup of tea – and, keep me interested in the variety of books I picked.

So let’s get into the books I have picked this month:

Rollover Book: The Principle of Moments by Esmie Jikiemi-Pearson

Subscription Book: The Coven by Harper L Woods

Exploding Book: The House in the Cerulean Sea

Interest Read: Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki

I like the mix that I have going on here, Science Fiction, Fantasy and Non-Fiction/Self Help. Secretly, I am hoping I will be able to get through one book relatively quickly. Giving me the opportunity to get through other books which might take some time.

So what do you think? Do you like my method of getting through my TBR? Have you got a new system of reading this 2025? I would love to hear in the comments below.

Till next time.

  1. I think it’s a good idea! 😀 You have a good selection to choose from there. Do you ever dip in and out of a few different books, depending on your mood? I am planning to keep a record of everything I read, so that by the end of the year, I have a record. I haven’t done that before, and by December it’s not easy to remember what you read.

    1. I do dip in and out of a few different books, but I do put a restriction to three books at a time – otherwise I never finish them! If you are looking for a book tracking system, I am currently using Storygraph to track the books I read. Its been helpful for me to see at the end of year what my mood was in certain months and what genres I lent more towards. I hope that helps!

      1. Oh how interesting! Thank you for the suggestion. 🙂 I wish you luck with your reading list! You’re right, three books is plenty at one time. 🙂
